CertiSource is a legality system with growing recognition and demand.
The CertiSource Standard has been through an extensive consultation which included an independent assessment by Sam Lawson, Associate Fellow of Chatham House and member of the EIA, as well as a review by the Keuthout Board of Experts.
CertiSource-Indonesia Legal Timber was admitted on 30 September 2010 to the Keurhout-Legal System. While originating from the Netherlands, the Keurhout assessment process is recognised as a detailed assessment of the fitness of certification systems. CertiSource received a Grade 1 Legal status making it on a par with Smartwood VLO or TLTV Legal standards.
Keurhout Participants buying CertiSource certified timber may use the Keurhout logo on products. A list of Keurhout participants and their contact details are available here.
The New Zealand Government also recognised CertiSource soon after the Keurhout admission and the system was included in a brochure and campaign to encourage responsible purchasing practices by the NZ Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The Ministry described the CertiSource system as one which could “provide peace of mind when buying imported tropical timber”.
